VALOUS

Birmingham band Valous nailed one of their
biggest shows to date after playing in
Derbyshire at the Hobgoblin New Blood Stage
for Bloodstock festival
Since
the
band have recorded two albums; their most
recent release is 'The Devil's Seven' which
received a very favourable review in RGG
According to Native Monster the main vocalist
Matt Shutt stated before the event that "It feels
amazing to know we're going to share the stage
with the likes of Twisted Sister Mastodon and
Anthrax even now I still can’t quite believe it’s
happening It’s been a dream of mine since I got
into metal to play a big festival and we’re all so
blown away by the opportunity" Not only a
great achievement for Valous but more
evidence of great talent from the Midlands
hitting the larger stage

Greetings Ryan's Gig Guiders
This month I'm dedicating space to some of the emerging metal artists who are
doing a grand job flying the flag for the Midlands by performing live at UK
music festivals and beyond In recent years the metal scene in Birmingham and
The Black Country has grown considerably and its very important that the music
spreads nationally There's not as many festivals as you'd think that actually
accommodate metal when you take a good look at the list of music festivals in
the UK Obviously there's Download Festival (Donington) but there's also
Bloodstock Festival (Derbyshire) Temples Festival (Bristol) HammerFest
(North Wales) DesertFest (London) and MammothFest (Brighton) Metal
bands from the Midlands are starting to make more appearances at national
music festivals so here are a few honourable mentions
