Verdict:
Midland based band Electric Cake
Salad successfully fuse electronica with rock
and the new release 'Subdiffusion' is possibly
the classiest that I've heard from them. Eleven
dynamic songs plus a live track and one remix.
If you grew up with or admire music from artists
such as Pop Will Eat Itself, Ministry, Sisters of
Mercy, Nine Inch Nails or Public Image Ltd then
I believe this album will be very appealing to
you. Best tracks on here I'd say are 'Reason To
Stay' with it's galactic industrial gun blast-
sounding beat backed up with an epic chorus,
and there's '1408' with it's early 90's electro
charm mixed with some maniacally dark
overtones. ECS ensure they sound like
themselves throughout the album and you can't
really mistake them for anybody else thanks to
the talents of vocalist Steve Gianolio-Jones who
stamps his authority very firmly on every track.

Verdict:
Four piece act Of Kings And
Captains release a brand new five track EP titled
'Give 'Em Hell Son'. Frontman Luke Wassell
gives an impeccable performance on this CD
and really shows his total sheer skill and
versatility as a vocalist. Musically OKAC are very
American sounding and predominantly produce
pop-like rock tunes, although 'Jack My Boy' has
a more Andrew W.K. feel in places. Opener ‘Ain't
Got The Heart' is a fine example of what the
band is capable of and they do a damn fine job
making vibrant feel good tunes which are aimed
at a young mainstream audience. They tick all
the commercial boxes. If you enjoy bands like
Panic! At The Disco, Fallout Boy or Motion City
Soundtrack then I suggest you get into Of Kings
And Captains today. Highlights are 'Jack My
Boy' and 'Hold On'. Bands like this aim high
because they aim at a big market and I wish
them every success.
