Verdict:
Album of the month, left hands down!
Stourbridge and its outskirts traditionally are a
consistent breeding ground for top musicians
and this record really explains why the area has
earned that reputation. First I read the bio
attached to the album sent to me. It was a little
plain, something about a variety of sounds and
musicianship etc. You know? The typical
descriptions all bands use. I was expecting to
be bored but instead I listened to arguably the
best album I've received this year. It's incredible.
This eleven track album, I swear, is something
you must buy. It's big. Real big. Highlights?
Dunno where to begin. 'Street Scene' or 'Seven
Year Blues' with their smart guitar stabs,
overdrive and energy? 'Girl Gone' or 'First World
Problems' with their awe-inspiring harmonies
and catchy melodies? There's so much genius
here that I need to just get to the point. Left
Hand Man should be considered just as
musically credible as bands like Radiohead or
Muse because of this album.
Do you understand?
LEFT HAND MAN
Verdict:
Glorious work. An eye opener of an
EP maybe even a mouth opener? Kidderminster
pop punk indie alternative three-piece Time Of
The Mouth release riff heavy “What Would Dave
Do?” which is produced by sound wizard Dave
Draper and I believe targeted at fans of Less
Than Jake and Bowling For Soup. Previously
the band released the excellent 'Snorkeling With
Jesus' EP and this is a natural succession. The
band name sounds like a reason to visit the NHS
but musically they are in perfect health.
Highlights include their single 'My Disguise', the
music video for which you can watch on
YouTube and it's a real touch of class A fun as it
shows the band being themselves away from
their instruments. 'Too Obvious' is perhaps the
strongest track on here with its large guitar
sound and honest lyrics such as “...and I don't
know if I am ready to commit again” reverberat-
ing into your soul. They remind me of US rock
band Cold in places. Their strongest work to
date and it's about time more music journalists
started taking notice of TOTM.
