RYAN'S GIG GUIDE May 2016 - page 9

RGG May 2016 - p.9
Every now and then a band disregards all the
stereotypes and unspoken rules of a music
scene and Tyrannosaurus Nebulous are one of
those. Immediately, on first listen, you get the
impression they are praising Budgie and Thin
Lizzy, but this is not a carbon copy; it's organic,
well written, ballsy but not vulgar; radio friendly
just not soft; balanced just perfect. Singer and
guitarist Matt Darby is a natural sounding
rockstar who entices you with his magnetic
professional voice, oozing in sex appeal like
Phil Lynott or even dare I say Richie Kotzen.
Opener 'TLK' is an all out cult rock sounding
joy, fun but seriously good, boasting a throat
grabbing beast-like hook chorus and coated
with hard rock guitar work that sounds
designed for the fingers of the greatest living
air guitarists in society. Now here's my problem
as a reviewer. I can say the exact same thing
for “Straight Jacket” and “Frosty Bad Boy”. Title
track “Deal With My Evil” offers more dynamic
scope with it's delicate carefully crafted intro
but then we go head first straight back into the
exact winning formula again of the beforehand
top tunage leaving me to just stop giving a crap
about the ego of a reviewer. This, in my
opinion, is what we call pure and real, a band
that you actually want to hear and see live.
Enjoy the music and do away with all the
politics and bullshit over-analysing. If it was out
of ten I'd give it twenty.
On Friday June 3rd Tyrannosaurus Nebulous
will be releasing two singles 'Straight Jacket' and
'TLK' both taken from the forthcoming EP. Each
single will be available on digital release only
from the band website, Bandcamp, and a range
of digital retailers including iTunes and Amazon.
The full EP is first launched as a digital release
on Friday July 15th followed by a launch party
on Saturday July 16th held at The Barge &
Barrel in Tipton with 100 limited edition signed

date.
