RYAN'S GIG GUIDE SEPTEMBER 2015 - page 6

RGG September 2015 - p.6
Over the past few weeks musicians from the
Midlands have been popping up a lot more in
national and international media It's a good
sign that maybe the music industry is starting
to sit up and listen to music news from places
that surround London Artists such as the
extremely talented blues singer Rebecca
Downes and poetic mastermind The Humdrum
Express (the musical vehicle for Kidderminster
based songwriter Ian Passey) have been
frequenting BBC Radio Local bands have made
headline news such as the Victoria Perks’
announcement of the reformation of one of the
biggest pop bands of the
's; Fuzzbox Iconic
and arguably anti establishment fueled
Stourbridge band Pop Will Eat Itself revealed
that an American tour is taking place this
month There's all sorts of stuff going on these
days but we focus now on a nice success story
about the fact that this year a horde of bands
from this area performed at one of the UK's
largest music festivals dedicated to melodic and
extreme metal
Heavy Metal fans or badly misinformed
vampires who ventured to Bloodstock Open Air
Festival to watch music heavyweights such as
Battlefield Earth look a like and gore genius
Rob Zombie or Florida based metalcore band
and scene kid generator Trivium may have also
noticed this year that there were plenty of
bands representing the Black Country and
Birmingham Day number one of the annual
Walton On Trent festival featured the talents
of dark melodic metal band Winter Storm and
heavy metal warriors The Mighty Wraith on the
Jägermeister stage along with rising
Kidderminster metal lords XVII on the
Hobgoblin New Blood stage Then over the
weekend Stourbridge rockers Martyr De Mona
Dudley hard metal veterans Left For Red and
Birmingham dirty sludge metal noisemakers
Burden Of The Noose joined in It would appear
that the event organizers have actually figured
out that acts from in and around the home of
heavy metal prove popular with the crowds
Greetings Ryan's Gig Guiders
Entertainment news first Key members of the
police force gave the media warnings on legal
high drugs at V Festival; although I imagine it
was impossible to understand what they were
saying August was a special life moment for
Robert Plant of legendary rock band Led
Zeppelin who celebrated his
th birthday
Talking of the living dead; Cilla Black has passed
away There were a lorra lorra tears in Liverpool
as they no longer have any living music heroes
left yes I am aware that Paul McCartney is
still alive Los Angeles theatrical rockers Black
Veil Brides recently released their “Alive and
Burning” DVD and Blu ray which I assume
includes incredible footage of all the band
members miming in full HD One Dire Erection
become the first band to record a music video
at the NASA Space Center in Houston; a futile
attempt to brainwash their fans into believing
that the world isn't flat; unlike their voices An
'honorable mention' to Beyonce who somehow
has ignored the press for a year; is she still
'drunk in love'? 'who knows?' what a 'naughty
girl' hopefully she's kicking up daisies
