RYAN'S GIG GUIDE MAY 2015 - page 7

RGG May 2015 - p.7
imposed by criminal mastermind and former
Prime Minister Tony Blair and regardless of the
fear mongering media that is insistent we all
stay in our homes RGG continues to inform
young or mature music supporters that our live
music scene is vibrant no matter what happens
elsewhere
For some it's a souvenir to take home after
watching a band in concert it's read in venues
by music fans music shop customers bar staff
trying to escape their shift duties and passed
around rehearsal rooms whilst a guitarist is
tuning up or laid on the floor pretending to be
exhausted When the world seems anti music
then RGG is something to inspire you into being
creative musically yourself
As a responsible publication it also from time to
time has to be the bearer of bad news RGG has
had to report on venues announcing a closure
but when a new one springs up it gives us hope
for the future and as a reader you've shared the
same soap opera
Some musicians decide to leave the Midlands to
further their career or move away because of
work family commitments college university
placements etc; those that return years later
often pick up a copy of RGG and praise the
editorial staff For them the magazine becomes
a healthy reassurance that their home is still the
musical haven they remember
So now we'd like to celebrate twenty years of
RGG by hearing from you and document your
association with this magazine whether it be
as a reader fan writer contributor advertiser
or musician We are producing a documentary
film for RGG magazine and we'd like to hear
from the people that have helped make the
magazine successful you We want music
stories past and present your views on the
Midlands music scene and of course what you
think of this magazine
Last year I went to Hollywood interviewed and
filmed some of the actors and musicians who
live network and work there created a short
documentary film called "Clingfilm LA Story"
(which can be seen on YouTube) and brought
together a mixed bunch of creative types to
capture a small snapshot of LA life; this time
we're going to do the same thing in the
Midlands but on a much larger scale More
musicians and concentrated on what the
Midlands music scene is like so that we can
show the world just how terrific it is
I've asked the editor of RGG if we can include
extracts of filmed interviews within the pages
of my column for the next months which
also means extra exposure for anyone willing to
participate in this documentary film I've had
something to say about the music industry for
seven years in my column and now it's time for
you to speak out and give your opinion Contact
rggmag@hotmail com as soon as possible and
let's hear what you think Those people out
there who disagree with what I say or think
need to be involved with this too; it's your
music scene and you have a right to have a
voice so let's hear from you as well contact the
editor of RGG today
This magazine if you think about it over the
past twenty years has brought so many
different people together and given them a
sense of community RGG has been a supporter
of Midlands venues pubs music shops bands
artists and live music; hopefully it will do so for
another twenty years Don't take this magazine
for granted; it's your good friend Let's all raise
a toast to the magazine editor Reckless Ryan
for his commitment and to his love of live
music; he's a real Midlands music hero Buy him
a few pints
