Verdict:
Walsall musican CARL GROCUTT-CLARKE
releases this six track EP titled "The View" which is a radio-
friendly mixture of acoustic rock that overall has the feel of
some of the great 90's hits of R.E.M. and the "Jar Of Flies" EP by ALICE IN CHAINS.
Highlights for me were "Photo In Your Mind" and opening track "Inner Light". Both I found
just so lyrically moving and sung so well, but this whole EP is a collective of clever written
pop tunes that really get under your skin. These tunes are extremely deep and although they
may appear at first to be happy ditty tunes, they're in actual fact very melancoly in sound,
CARL CROCUTT-CLARKE's voice sings over these skillfully etched layers of saddness in
such a warming way that you get a beautiful crossfire. This is one of the best EP's I've
recieved in a while. According to his press release there is a forthcoming documentary
film about the making of this EP and I can't wait to see it. Splendid work.

Verdict:
Birmingham three-piece TINY ROCKETS use
this slick three track EP titled "Drum Synth Fuzz" to promote that
they are soon releasing a new album called "TinyRocketsRgo". The EP title describes the roles
of the band members as primarily TR appear to be an instrumental trio consisting of drums, synths
and distorted bass. We're given two new tracks. The eerie uptempo rocking "Action Figures" and super
charged metal pop riff-crazy drum & bass inspired "State Of Flux" - both of which include computer voice
triggers. Sounds like the most interesting thing Stephen Hawking would ever say if I believed it was
actually him doing the talking. "Final" is included on the EP which appeared first on their previous 2012
release "All in the Name of Machine Chaotica". Don't be put off by the lack of vocals on this EP as
musically this stands solid on it's own. Earlier examples of their work such as "Wots in" (I believe sung
by the drummer judging from a YouTube video I located) reveal they sound great with lyrics. Their next
album hopefully will have a lot more of him singing. An experimental band with a fat sound using no overdubs
and relying on live "one shot recordings" as they themselves boast. TR are doing something different to
everyone else and I recommend you see these guys on stage.
