RGG has been that faithful good friend printed
every month reminding us that we have
brilliant music venues filled with newcomers or
established bands and artists it's survived the
recession the death of Myspace the twin
tower attacks and outlived Lisa Marie Presley's
marriage to Nicholas Cage but that was
predictable because he's Nicholas Cage
Over the years the magazine has seen the Lost
TV show come and go witnessed Frank Bruno's
short reign as a WBC heavyweight boxing
champion endured lashings of new world order
Reckless Ryan who runs this magazine is
quite a hero; he and his contributors have
maintained and self published this magazine
through thick and thin; it's now become the
most well known free music related magazine
in the Midlands That's not an insult I'mmaking
towards other publications around us it's just
a fact Lot's of you have a story or connection
with RGG and it's been a part of so many
musicians
lives
documenting
their
performance history and reassuring us all that
there is always an abundance of live music
happening in our region This magazine has also
probably been used to keep window glass
paint free line a pond and mop up work

It's coming up to this magazine's twenty year anniversary During the past
seven years that I've been a columnist here I've witnessed the printed pages
advance from black and white into colour CD reviews becoming a regular
section the brand name itself changing from Ryan's Gig Guide to what we
know now as RGG and every month I've had the luxury of venting pretty much
whatever I want ever since the editor asked me to replace Emma Scott
