Verdict:
Highly recommended for fans of
Lamb Of God, Caliban, Devildriver, Slipknot and
In Flames. This three track promo CD from
Kidderminster based metal outfit XVII reveals
massive progression in terms of image and
sound. Having recently played Bloodstock
open-air festival it was forthcoming that the band
would soon have a big release and 'Bow To Me'
stamps that for sure. Opener 'Shatter The
Waves' also highlights their debut music video
directed by Jay Shredder; it's filled with excellent
guitar work and there's a moshing treat for you
halfway through with a superb mosh friendly riff
stab. "Bow To Me" offers a slightly more
commercial metal feel and equally continues to
show the talents of vocalist Vaughan Voz
Bennett. 'Scorned' shows a more experimental
side to XVII and this morbid metal number is a
top tune to download. Solid Promo for their soon
to be released EP and I expect big things now
from XVII.

Verdict:
You know it's a good single when
Steve Lamacq has already aired it on BBC radio
way before it's released. This latest single from
Kidderminster singer songwriter Ian Passey
known musically as The Humdrum Express
wades in with yet more satirical observations on
everyday life which as hard-core fans will simply
tell you is an obvious thing to state in a review.
E-Petition covers subject matter such as selling
guitars on E-bay, collecting parcels from the
sorting office, vacuuming at seaside arcades,
giving up on eating out and half n half football
scarf wearers. The Humdrum Express always
delivers wonderful lyrics and this fast paced tune
seems a mix of his current eccentricity and a
gentle nod to his earlier sound from the
beginning of his career. Overall it's single of the
month for good reason because originality like
this is rare. You must download this today.
