Verdict:
This is the debut single from
Birmingham solo artist 10 Guitars which on first
inspection appears electro pop friendly and
arguably a fusion between House and techno
too. I think the name 10 Guitars did make me
expect to hear a lot of guitars, more than one
anyway; in fact a lot. However unless they were
heavily made to resemble a synthesiser then I
must have missed all ten of them. Of course I'm
not that stupid; yes there must be guitars here,
but that's down to the skill of this excellent
musician who, I'm informed, normally when
playing on stage, is armed with an arsenal of a
midi controller, electric guitar and a PC (More
reliable than a Mac let's be honest). 'Switch
Theory' is a really well produced, modern-electro
chart worthy release and it's just right; nothing
too long, great vocals and although I don't like
synth vox it's acceptable here. Possibly just a
small example of what this unique musician can
bring to the table but this a good song to start
with indeed. Live I imagine you get a greater feel
for what 10 Guitars can actually do musically
and if he can produce this as accurately on
stage then I think we have someone very special
to look forward to.

Verdict:
Leeches is one of the greatest
singles ever sent in to RGG magazine. Period.
When Birmingham/Coventry prog metal act
Eight Great Fears send you a song they mean
it. Arguably the soundtrack to your life, to any car
advert; modern and relevant to today's music
scene without alienating anyone and everything
you expect from a classic tune. You'll want to be
covered in Leeches by the end of this record.
Although it's a single release, when you
download on iTunes etc. you're also treated to
two more excellent tracks. 'Redemption' is a
spiritual journey in itself armed with texture,
drama and deliverance and then there's the
seven minute long 'Missions' which boasts one
of the greatest guitar riffs I've ever encountered.
Recommended for fans of Tool. Incredible
musicianship like you've never heard before.
