Verdict:
Highly recommended for fans of
Drowning Pool, Megadeth and Diamond Head.
This brand new four track EP is the much
anticipated follow up to the 2015 album 'The
Devil's Seven'. On this outing they're still
branding all the heavy metal traits that have
given them cudos in the past, only this time they
have noticeably gone much darker and heavier.
Highlights are opener 'The Beckoning' which
politely fires more punches than a lot of their
previous songs, 'Weighing Of The Heart' is
wonderfully sinister, especially if you enjoy your
exotic guitar modes like I do (I sound like a geek)
but I'll praise it even more for the amazing
performance by vocalist Mat Shutt. there's ‘333’
which ain't half a beast and finally the hand of
God friendly "Dextera Domini", which to me
sounds like Valous are arguably saluting or
rather fusing the epic tones of Iron Maiden's
Powerslave album with the riff heaviness of
Disturbed's The Sickness record. Overall an
extremely strong EP release by Valous.

Verdict:
Okay I've broken the rules; it's a four
track EP plus four live tracks but this is too big
to just name it an EP. Julia Mosley has got a
voice that many women will be jealous of.'
September Song' begins with some of the
deepest lyrics you can ask for and I'll bet real
money that you can't match her for getting under
your skin. 'The Conquest' is like a tribe of Julia
Mosley all conducting a powerful rain dance.
'Jack Frost' could arguably encourage Andrew
Lloyd Webber to take up hairdressing or any
profession other than music as it's more
professional and soulful than anything you can
envisage on a West End stage or Broadway.
Finally 'Red Sky At Night' is the short gentle end
to what can only be described as a delightful
collection of warm, powerful, tender ballads that
ooze class and wonder. This is one of
Staffordshire's finest and we can only encourage
her to continue to grow. There's no doubting her
skills as you can hear the same four tracks again
live straight after on this release and you'll keep
playing them all back to back just like I did.
Incredible.
