Releasing the
Halo
single has given us more
time to decide which tunes will make it to album
number two. The debut
They Live
has done well,
we always have to up our game. Good
songwriting is important. We are quite confident
that we have a strong follow up album. We will
be working with engineer John Stewart again of
FrEQ in Coventry. It's always enjoyable bouncing
ideas around with him. He understands our
sound.

Is there anything else you can tell us about
the next WEAK13 album?
Nick
J
Townsend:
Let me begin by saying this; I
believe that a lot of folks were genuinely
surprised when they first heard the
They Live
album and if they're really honest I don't think
they expected it. Reviewers just can't seem to
stop praising it. This next one is where we're
rolling out the bigger songs and we only intend
on making a superior album. Rather than more
of the same, we'll be making more of the
different. We've already tested out demos of
some songs with a select few and they want to
buy the finished album now!
Wesley Smith:
The world has changed a lot
since
They Live
came out and album number two
will have tunes that people will identify with for
sure.

Will you guys be touring this year?
Wesley Smith:
Yes. Touring properly from
October.
Nick
J
Townsend:
Yeah, hopefully playing shows
with bands we love such as
Buzzard, Naked
Sunday, Eight Great Fears, The Rocket Dolls,
This Elegant Chaos, Left For Red
and a lot of
other cool dudes.
You can download the
They Live
album and the

This is the first time WEAK13 has ever
recorded a cover isn't it?
Nick
J
Townsend:
"Yeah; It's already been a
rewarding experience. We fancied a
challenge so we
decided to do a
version
of
a
Depeche Mode
song
and we felt
'Halo'
would
resonate well with our fans. For us
it was a huge undertaking because
it's a deep song that means a lot to
many people. Before we started
recording it we spoke to a lot of
hardcore
Depeche Mode
fans
and
DJs
about
our
intentions. Week by week
we gave them a studio
update on what we'd
created and made sure
that it was done as
respectfully as we
possibly could. The other challenge was
to not alienate our own fanbase. The
final result is very pleasing; it's done in
our style, we've kinda put our own
stamp on it and the band has already
had a lot of success with it.
You're always going to get some
who disapprove because in their
eyes nothing compares to the original,
and maybe they have a point, but we've
turned a hell of a lot of heads with this
single and a lot of folks are taking the
band very seriously.

Does this single release
mean we can expect more
covers in the future?
Wesley Smith:
Maybe,
maybe not. We start
recording the second
album soon.
