Verdict:
I knew after just listening to the first
song of this 5 track EP that this would be EP of
the month. It begins with 'Sun Song' and it's epic.
I mean truly this is just fresh air from a newly
born baby. Psychedelic 60's blues rock pop
springs to mind and it may be an amalgamation
of those things but the feeling I got when I heard
this band come through the speakers was wow!
It's like hearing The Beatles George Harrison
during the good acid trip stages or The Band Of
Gypsies at their bluesiest peak and given a new
lease of life in this great band. Imagine The
Animals roaring out melodies once again but by
very young men with similar spirit. Style-wise
there's for sure a homage to the greats of the
60's but there's a twist of 90's influences mixed
in such as Sonic Youth and Soundgarden too.
Highlights for me were 'No Paper' and 'Sun
Song' but I loved every track on this. One of the
most impressive EP's I've ever had the pleasure
of hearing.

Verdict:
An EP from Birmingham based
Secrets Of Mariana. Sounding much in the same
vain as quality bands from the region such as
Occoeur, Sister Shotgun and Mallen; Secrets Of
Mariana are another female fronted heavy rock
band with a little sprinkle of metalcore for good
modern measure. Five belting tunes on here
including the token ballad titled “Lost” which
shows off a gentler side of their rock abilities.
Highlights for me are 'Fake Smiles and False
Pretences' and 'Slipping Away'. This isn't
another Paramore clone; they're a lot more than
anything like that and I think that if they were to
produce a really well thought out album then
we'll see them bloom. This is a solid strong EP
which shows they can play hard and rock out.
