Verdict:
Blackcountry songwriter GARY O'DEA releases two free teaser tracks that are available for down-
load and will feature on his forthcoming album titled 'FLY' which is engineered by music legend Eddy Morton.
One of these tracks is "Take The Money and Run My Dear" which is an affectionate salute to 'old school' type
footballer Anthony 'Tony' Brown. This is coded in the line "Hit your volley hard and true, like Tony Brown he
used to do" along with a few political digs "politicians giving spin - hoping that we'll take it in" gives this song
real crunch. This relaxing acoustic tune is a multi-cultural variety of passionate organic sounds that reflect the
musical diversity of the Blackcountry; layered with slide guitar and sitar plus Dhol & Tabla drums provided by
West Bromwich-based Raj Sahota of Bangra fusion band THE SAHOTAS; it's a very well crafted song that is
a fine example of why this region inspires the world musically. So go get

Verdict:
'Higher' is the opening track from the album 'Songs from the heart' by DEEP LOVE
FOUNDATION and straight away I hear a solid rock band giving it large; a real mixture of past
rock n' roll tricks and modern day hard groove, terrific stomping beats and feeling. They remind
me of that time when rock ruled the world, in todays' hard music climate they reflect a
similar drive as that of bands like SOLEY MOURNING; working well as a unit and totally
in the zone with their identity. Song-wise this is full of action but I wouldn't say it was
packed with originality; the main highlight on this album for me was "Sky pilots vs hell
broth" which is a high energy driving song with a chorus that just sells the vocals and guitar
so well. Track four "Amaranth" breaks things up well with a short instrumental piece of tex-
tured acoustic guitar playing and it really needed that to make the album flow; the end of
"Keep on trying" has a nice outro too, very tastefully done. DLF sound to me like... well,
imagine a crossbreed version of ROCKET FROM THE CRYPT mixed with THE JIMI HEN-
DRIX EXPERIENCE and REEF. This is a real good band and you should investigate it fur-
ther.

Verdict:
Inspired by an article on 'the importance of encouraging children to shoot for the moon' this
heart warming acoustic tune written and performed by hardworking Worcestershire musician ROBERT
PLANT ESQ is a beautiful and touching single that in my opinion has to be one of his finest and imaginative
works to date. If your tear ducts aren't functioning while you listen to this then you're probably not human.
There's a nice video to accompany the song which I recommend you watch as its delicate, thoughtful and will
give you more appreciation for this tune. Great work here. An inspiring tune and sung with a lot of tenderness.
ROBERT PLANT ESQ.
