Verdict:
An overall prog-metal sound dominates this five song (plus an intro)
EP 'Plague Of Man' by Wolverhampton based HUSK. Plenty of air double bass
pedal drumming for you to mime along to with tunes like 'Absolution' and if you like good technical metal riffs
then the title track will satisfy you for sure but the tune you must hear is 'Black Mirror. 'Black Mirror' sells HUSK;
they threw everything into this, maybe even a metal kitchen sink? Heavy in the right places, darker, tremendous
dynamics, not too long-winded with it being just under four minutes. It's the best HUSK Song I've heard and
more superior than a lot of singles from major metal artists. Here's a bone - now fetch!

Verdict:
Cheshire based 4-piece VENUS RISING led by
Sheena Bratt aren't your average folk rock act and aren't afraid to be vocal about their concerns
for the planet, they advocate sustainability, a resource-based economy and The Venus Project.
They use music as a way to spread a positive message. "Lazy Daze" their single is a happy
summer tune which the band chose to release first to show that they "like to have fun as
well as share messages of global change and peace" (Sheena Bratt). Produced by Glyn
Sutton of Colossus Recordings this, like many of their tunes which I recommend you lis-
ten to, is a real joy to hear. Definitely for people who enjoy the music of JONI MITCHELL
as this tune is up there with some of the best. There are a few raw live recordings on their
reverbnation but I've heard the promo and it's hot, their debut album will be released later
this year. Incredible, inspiring and beautiful music with an underground goal to bring about
good universal change to our world. Please check them out. Sheena has a super voice and
this type of songwriting is very professional.

Verdict:
Storming debut four track EP from Kidderminster based post hard-
core metalcore band HER CURSED WORDS, opening tracks "Nightmare"
and "Sincerity" are filled with very meaty chug guitar riffs backed by a dominating drum sound and a care-
fully crafted variation of screamo and traditional rock vocals that work well. Tunes like "Once I Had A
Social Life (Until I Met You)" and "Runaway" are a tad more experimental, show more contemporary rock
influences and enjoyable all the same with their heavy spin on it. I believe I stage managed one of the band's
first shows; good to hear them with a strong release. Recommended for fans of BLESSTHEFALL and ASKING
ALEXANDRIA.
