Verdict: "This is my favourite CD this month from Hereford 4-piece ARTSTAR. Dirty
rock with attitude. Guitarist and singer Ria Parfit whose vocal style reminds me of a hybrid
of TOYAH, BLONDIE and BJORK is sewn together with a band of musicians that reminds
me of early SOUNDGARDEN. It's a real tight band and songs such as 'Sing' and 'Icarus Is
My King' are fine examples of this band's great dynamics, slick musicianship and
dedication to originality. It's punk, funk and rock but executed in a very stylish and smooth
way, a very arty way. Hard to describe their overall sound but I'd call them a female
fronted version of PETER GABRIEL mixed with the rock of the FOO FIGHTERS after being
soaked in a bath of hot grunge. Brilliant work"
