Snake Sabo
Growing up the youngest of
boys in a house constantly
filled with music ranging from
Elvis Presley to Black Sabbath
it was inevitable that this
would have a profound effect on Snake Sabo’s
future “There was always music and there was
always comedy It was pretty awesome!” He
formed many cover bands in his hometown but
always knew that he needed to write his own
music not play someone else’s “ When I was
I had a band called ‘Steel Fortune’ We ruled!
(not really) We had the distinction of opening
up for Metallica’s st show ever with Kirk Ham
mett in my hometown of Sayreville NJ A bit of
trivia for ya’ ” Meeting Rachel Bolan at a music
store in
proved to be missing pieces in
both of their musical paths Quickly forming a
friendship and songwriting partnership Skid
Row was born
Scotti Hill
As a kid with three older sisters
Scotti Hill was exposed to music
from a young age Hearing the
Beatles around the house was a
daily routine Always the show
man Scotti would put on shows for the family
singing and dancing At he picked up the guitar
for the first time From that day forward all he
wanted to do was play learn and become a musi
cian On a gut string guitar borrowed from his sis
ters’ boyfriend he began his journey into music
Seeing his strong interest in music his parents
bought him his first electric guitar and encour
aged him to pursue what made him happy So at
he left high school to pursue his higher educa
tion in the nightclubs of New York "I would stand
in front of the bands and study what the guitarist
was doing then go home in the middle of the
night and practice what I'd seen earlier that
evening The following years were spent playing
in local bands cutting his teeth In
he re
ceived a call from friend and former band mate
Rachel Bolan about a new band he was starting
with Snake "I wanted to land the gig badly and
had no intention of letting it slip away I joined
Skid Row the following week"
Rob Hammersmith
Rob's musical journey began at
an early age in a small town out
side of Buffalo NY After a fam
ily trip to see his first concert
featuring Roy Orbison Rob was
hooked “Shortly after that trip my parents
agreed to kiss any peace and quiet in the house
goodbye and get me a set of drums I'm sure they
thought I'd lose interest after a few weeks and
probably trade them for a dirt bike or something
Wrong! ”After a few years of constant racket in
the house Rob joined his first band Blacksmith
with some high school classmates “We played (or
attempted) everything from AC/DC to CCR Zep
pelin to The Scorpions and anything in between
Probably why Phil Rudd and John Bonham are my
biggest drum influences to this day We immedi
ately hit the local bars roller rinks and all the
backyard parties we could play ”
