Verdict:
Very clever. Black Country blues and
country band Stolen Comfort really lead you into
a very tasteful false sense of security with their
opening and title track
The Bridge
. You're first
smoothly led to believe that you are in the middle
of a kind of guitar-friendly Gaelic jig and just as
you're swaying to the rhythm they force the rug
from under you and blast out full on punk folk -
and you honestly don’t expect it. I have of course
now completely ruined that surprise but I am,
after all, a reviewer. There's also the harmonica
fuelled
Harlot Street
which sounds like a great
place to hang out and arguably the complete
opposite of Sesame Street. Highlights definitely
include the stylish Americana of
Should I Give
It Up
with the brilliant "Am I Strong Enough"
hook chorus. There's also the artistically short
but very deep sombre tones of
The Angels
Share
with its sinister and uplifting chorus. An
excellent EP; if you really appreciate good
country and blues then you should adore this.

Verdict:
Recommended for fans of Atari
Teenage Riot, Ministry, Depeche Mode and
Combichrist. Stafford based industrial/electro
sci-fi noise-punk band
Flesh Eating
Foundation
release this packed fifteen track
album which musically sounds like the
soundtrack to every good 2000AD comic.
Highlights include
Futurelast
featuring Adam
Probert, the atmospheric and post apocalyptic
sounding
Having Fun
and the brilliant
Stand Up
And Be Discounted
. By their own words they
are guaranteed to confound, revolt and enthuse
and they sure do. This release features several
remixes including a superb electro version of
We
Are Fucked
by AlienNation. This is definitely for
the attention of those who appreciate dark wave,
EBM, postpunk or new wave and should strike
a chord with those who venture out to
Birmingham alternative club nights such as
Zombie Club, Pandora's Music Box (aka the
Goth room at Eddies Rock Night) and Only After
Dark. The most outstanding track here though
has to be the eleven minute opus
Capacity
which behaves as the November Rain of the
industrial genre; sheer genius.
