The Very Best Of Sons Of Beaches

Verdict:
Kiddy alternative rock band Sons Of
Beaches release this gigantic 21 track album
featuring all the very best SOB tracks since their
formation in 2008 including 4 totally brand new
tunes along with 4 bonus songs previously
unavailable. The compilation follows the
recording history of this important rock band
from the West Midlands including fan favourites
such as 'A Plague on Both Your Houses', 'Turn
Me On' (which was once criticised by the BBC
for being too sexual), 'Sticks N Stones', and
'I.O.U'. The release includes the festive 'Santa
I've Been Good This Year' which is, without a
doubt, a remarkably good Christmas Song.
Highlights include the powerful rock ballad
'Wasted Time', the Audioslave-esque power
grove masterpiece 'Fallout' and the soul
searching 'Can't Rain All The Time' with it's
beautiful guitar-work and inspiring deep lyrics.
'Heroes' is one of the more recent tracks from
SOB which unlike the majority of their songs
has a more harder sound and a very heavy
guitar riff which more than shows off their ability
to experiment with rock styles. Recommended
for fans of Bad Company, Aerosmith, Creed,
Bon Jovi, and Blackstone Cherry; this collection
of tunes has a lot of meaning to those who
supported them throughout their tours around
the UK and if you're hearing about Sons Of
Beaches for the first time then this is a rather
good CD to begin with.
SONS OF BEACHES
Verdict:
Clutching At Straws is an alternative
indie folk band hailing from the creative county
of Staffordshire. Their latest single 'Connection
Lost' is a wonderful song about the effect
pornography has on our brains and on our lives.
It also addresses the lives of those engaged,
voluntarily or otherwise, in the booming porn
industry. It's a noble move by a band to address
a subject that is becoming one of the western
world’s most pervasive addictive habits. The
song draws attention to the ‘re-wiring’ that takes
place in the user’s brain and their diminished
ability to connect intimately with other human
beings. The song is accompanied by a music
video which is released on YouTube and I advise
you to check out this single and the band.
Making music to highlight actual problems in
society is really what more musicians should be
doing. Look around at your false surroundings,
your media culture laced with fabrication, wipe
the semen from off your laptop screen and wake
up from your sleep. Well done Clutching At
Straws. Brilliant single.
