RYAN'S GIG GUIDE July 2016 - page 8

RGG July 2016 - p.8
The bruising and charming 4-piece featuring
cryptic vocalist Stephanie Taylor, demonic
drummer Mark Beach, guitar abuser Paul
Clifford and energetic leg crazy bassist Greg
Boden have lifted the spirits of audiences across
Birmingham and the Black Country with their
no-nonsense attitude as a live band. Heavily
inspired by bands ranging from Adam Ant to
Nirvana and Slipknot to My Chemical Romance,
This Elegant Chaos have battled the front lines
of venues to create themselves an incredible live
reputation.
The band are preparing to head in to the studio
later this year to embark on recording the follow
up to their previous release; the double A-side
single, which include the songs 'Hello Fuck You
Goodbye' and 'Bloodlust'. The band have
already filmed a gore thirsty music video for
'Bloodlust' directed by psychedelic fantasy
horror filmmaker Tom Lee Rutter of Carnie films.
The 'Bloodlust' music video is a glorious vampire
friendly tale nodding to Hammer films and
exposing the Gothic roots of the band. A follow
up music video for the remaining double A-side
single 'Hello Fuck You Goodbye' is speculated
to commence filming in the next few months
along with another video release for a
forthcoming tune to come from the next EP
currently in production and expected to be out
towards the end of the year.
On the live gig circuit the band
have racked up an exceptional
amount of credibility by
supporting and mingling with
such acts as rock metal giants
Die So Fluid, alternative rock
emo band Twin Heart, punk
garage trio Dead Sea Skulls,
indie rock maker Me Me
Detroit, and even played with a
Slipknot tribute band called
Knotslip. The band are making
friends in many high places as a
result of their strong live shows and
great songwriting.
Recently This Elegant Chaos featured on UK
television show Amp'd produced by Big Centre
TV and landed an interview with Kerrang!
Radio's Johnny Doom; viewers of the show
witnessed one of the scariest things ever seen
on the channel as singer Stephanie Taylor
remained totally mute during the entire interview
whilst wearing a death mask and allowed only
her fellow band mates to speak and answer
questions. The decision of the singer to not
speak throughout was eerie, made great
television and added a wonderful sense of
mystery to the band.
