Verdict:
'Goodbye To Love' by Midlanders
The Roz Bruce Infusion is the follow up to the
'You Deserve To Be Here' album and this is
where we witness psychedelic caterpillars
transforming into psychedelic butterflies. We
heard an incredible previous record and now the
three piece I believe are in a more experimental
stage of their careers and are sounding
comfortable with being that way too. The guitar
work is still as magical and inspiring as ever but
on this album Roz Bruce is harnessing her
powers of story telling more so and making a
powerful verbal and artistic spectacle with each
THE ROZ BRUCE INFUSION
tune; stamping her authority relentlessly. The
lyrics are more personal and the song structure
more free with less predictability. Basically, what
I'm saying is Roz Bruce may have sounded
before like a crazy but focused wild woman of
rock but now...she has got crazier and it's good.
'Get A Life' is a surreal but well textured funk
rock stomp song submerged with a hint of
psychedelia whilst 'Where Would I Be Without
You' is a rock out personal-reflection sounding
song that makes you feel like you're happily
intruding on someone's private life. The words
are deeper and more poetic than ever before;
musically free from the chains of pop but it's got
hooks where needed; this is a showing off her
real skill as a songwriter. If Roz Bruce is a
female re-incarnation of Jimi Hendrix then this is
definitely her 'Axis: Bold As Love' stage and title
track 'Goodbye To Love' shows this most with it's
amazing rock melancholy and dynamic tender
soul followed by a guitar outro that sounds like
it's hurtling into the heavens at the speed of
sound. This is a great album by The Roz Bruce
Infusion.
Verdict:
Stourbridge based punk rock band
Unhinged release their debut 4 track EP titled
'Nostalgia' which comes across as an under-
ground sounding hardcore version of The
Offspring. Gritty in places with early Biohazard
sounding vocal stabs; especially on hearing
'Homesick' which is a great fusion of hardcore
