RGG August 2015 - p.6
as the founder and host of “MySpace: A place
for Metal” and brought focus and illumination
to literally thousands of acts via nearly a million
and a half followers and fans of Metal music
Boasting over
Million views to her media
content of hosted interviews and spot lighted
videos I caught up with Metal Sanaz at one of
her band nights at 'Loaded' in Hollywood and
she gave some insight into her world and some
advice for all the musicians reading RGG
Magazine
“Most people and including myself don't really
know what I do because I do so many different
things One person at a show came up to me
and when I explained to them what I do they
were like “So basically you're a band nanny” I
do everything from interviewing bands
dressing big bands helping big bands helping
small bands The most important thing that's
lacking right now is that musicians don't know
the business part of the music industry They're
musicians and they make the wrong decisions
because their brain doesn't work business; their
brain is artist So we want to start giving that
information out”
“If anyone wants to get into this business they
gotta be ready for spending a lot out of their
own pocket not everything is going to be paid
for very little of the music industry has money
in it the rest of it has to be free if you want to
be successful you have to be ready for it and it's
a lot of work Literally my life has become /
working and I love it because it's my career so I
don't complain about that part but you really
have to love it to make it a success in this
industry If you're thinking that you're going to
do this to be able to get rich then get that out
of your head and go get a job because this isn't
going to make you rich at all”
"You have to be consistent with everything that
you're doing don't let anybody bring you down
or tell you "NO" These haters that write when
they see something all of a sudden start
Greetings Ryan's Gig Guiders
As I type this on my iPhone I reflect on my
immediate predicament I'm sat on the back
seat of my friends car heading down a
Californian freeway praying that I can make it
to the British Embassy in time to pick up an
emergency passport to replace the one I lost
somewhere in Riverside; I've only a matter of
hours left until my plane leaves from Los
Angeles airport What's more shocking to you
the reader is probably the fact that I write my
columns on my phone and that I'm not
squatting on a desk holding a pen quill
Hopefully the Editor of RGG isn't worried about
the chance of me being marooned in America
Anyway last year I was sent to LA by this
magazine to interview the musician Brandon
Mendenhall (who bizarrely is sat on the
back seat of the car I'm in) from the US band
The Mendenhall Experiment and this year I'm in
the USA again to interview another music
name Earlier this week I met up with Metal
Sanaz and got an exclusive interview with this
self made hero of underground music Sanaz
has been a driving force in the metal industry
since the year
