RYAN'S GIG GUIDE August 2016 - page 6

RGG August 2016 - p.6
Laura Stanyer:
Ok, well as you know, Martin
here wrote the UK 16 chart song 'Hope ain't a
bad thing' for Stephen Sutton, which all 3 of us
play on. Since then we've been developing the
sound of Naked Sunday in our own right. Having
travelled and played all around the country,
England Wales and Scotland, we have no
boundaries on how far our music can take us.
For me, our biggest achievement this year has
been performing at the Slade Rooms in
Wolverhampton. It's a great venue to play and
we received very positive feedback on our live
show on both the occasions we were there.
What with the release of the brand new Naked
Sunday EP titled '
Falling
' and our previous EP
'
A Dozen Red Roses And A Bottle Of Jack
',
we have built a reputation for stadium sized
songs. Oh, and all our CDs are available at gigs.
Martin Stanyer:
Appearing on the Amp'd
television show with Johnny Doom was a
considerable highlight as this gave great
exposure to our band and for our latest music
video 'Falling' which got broadcast. We've got
lots coming up too. There's another new EP to
get a physical release soon, the new music
video for 'Diamonds and Pearls' will be filmed in
September, we're returning to Glasgow at the
New Hellfire Club and finally there's Giff-Fest
2016 at the Giffard arms on August 28th. The
new EP in the works for the end of the year will
see us take a darker direction with our latest live
favourite 'Broken Angel'.
Craig Stanley:
Well my favourite gig among the
many greats we have done would have to be
most recently at Wolves Fest 2016. Perfect
timing with typical English weather. As we took
to the stage everyone runs back in and starts
watching us rock, perfect top quality sound as
well. We finished the set and then the sun came
out just as the England match started! So the
whole band watched that and drank till late,
good times. Favourite Naked Sunday memory
would be the first time we wrote the song 'Sun-
flowers'. It was a miserable day all round, we hit
the studios and just wrote it start to finish. First
run was near what we play now. It keeps in my
mind as we still get that feeling of
accomplishment every time we write a new
banging tune. Yeah, we're not as heavy as other
bands, but I think they forget there is only 3 of
us.
Martin Stanyer:
The working of our first ever
music video 'A Dozen Red Roses And A Bottle
Of Jack' was a special moment that saw all our
friends come together and support us. I'm very
proud of that day. We've received support from
promoter Catherine J Campbell who has helped
us obtain radio airplay in New York and Canada.
The Furzefest 2016 music festival in Stafford
Dirty party rock Stafford based three-piece band
Naked Sunday have over the past 2 years
successfully ripped up the Midlands live gig
circuit in glorious fashion with their crowd
participation stunts, burlesque bass
playing and onstage guitar heroics. The
members
made
national
and
international news headlines by
breaking into the UK charts at No.16
by performing on the charity single for the
late Stephen Sutton; plus opened up V Fes-
tival with it. The band has swung many heads
with
their
rise
in
popularity.
