Verdict: "I push and support original music, so when I got this
promo CD sent to me to review filled with cover songs I wasn't expecting to be very to
interested....I was wrong. This is a young 5-piece alternative rock band from Stourbridge
who have made a valiant effort here, I played the entire CD and after a few songs in I
thought to myself "this band is great, I don't care whether they are doing covers". I'm
used to hearing covers played by bands all the time in Rehearsal rooms but not normally
from a band as young as this. I can't possibly judge them on originality as there are no
original songs here but this band have their own sound throughout the CD and they
sound brilliant, the vocalist...she's great. Why this band aren't doing their own tunes I
don't know, I guess where as in the case of TV talent shows the argument is that music
shouldn't be all about looks; in rare cases a band shouldn't be just about being original.
Some of the biggest names such as JIMI HENDRIX started off with covers and then went
on to write hits, maybe OPEN VERDICT are the same ilk? I hope so. Book these chaps for
a gig, check them out and I think you'll like these guys a lot"
