If you need further proof of the love for rock music in the Midlands,
then this recent story is sure to touch a few hearts. A few days after
the news of the closure of Birmingham's
Eddies Rock Club
on Gough
Street, a Save Eddies Facebook pagewas erected andwithin a short
space of time Eddies was relocated and relaunched at The Tunnel
Club. Below is a statement from Colin Wall of Eddie's Rock Club.

When I read the things that people were
writing and the way the numbers were build
ing from the post I put onto Facebook about
the closure I was stunned We had over
hits in less than
hours That spoke
Volumes to me I also saw people outside the
club on Gough Street when we were trying
to remove some of the gear and I could see
how upset they were It was as though we
were back in
just after the Fire at Ed
wards No and the Devastation that we had
then These people lifted my spirits so much
that I knew that I had to find somewhere else
to bring Rock & Goth Music back to Birming
ham
I always had a few things on my mind
about where to locate too; we had to be close
enough to the City Centre but far enough
away from problem area's just had we'd
been with the previous
clubs Near to bus
routs and it had to 'FEEL' like a Rock Club
too You also had to look at the history of a
venue and could it work to your favour or be
against you This was something that I pon
dered on for a while before making the deci
sion to see if the Tunnel Club would be
interested in what we had to offer
ALL
Very important things It also had to be well
away from Broad Street
Too many prob
lems even if it was just off the street itself
(on a side road)
On the st of our
Launch
Nights (This is because of the SONISPHERE
FESTIVAL Last weekend) we had almost
people attend and most of them stayed right
to the end
Which gave us ALL a lift of Ex
citement This will be our Permanent Home
It offers everything we'll need to keep ROCK
& GOTHMUSIC Thriving in Birmingham We
are ALL Excited about the prospects and so
far from what we've seen (and this is only
after the st week of being there) pretty
much EVERYONE is in favour of the move
Things WILL only get Better I'm sure of that
